Extruded Aluminium Interlocking Slats

The Mirage Series 1 Aluminium Shutter is specifically designed as a multi-purpose security shutter. Available with solid slats or alternatively with ventilation slots giving an effective airflow of up to 33%. Also available with clear acrylic infills should viewing panels and dust protection be a requirement. 

APPLICATIONS
Suitable for shopfronts, store rooms, reception counters and corridors in retail tenancies, restaurants, cafes, clubs, offices, educational buildings, hospitals and unit developments.

RECOMMENDED SPECIFICATIONS
Series 1 Extruded Aluminium Roller Shutter, as manufactured by Mirage Doors. Product Code AE/Sl/60.

CURTAIN
The curtain is assembled using 60mm wide x 1.2mm thick solid extruded aluminium slats. Nylon end clips are fitted to the ends of every alternate slat to prevent lateral movement and provide a quiet and smooth operation.

SERIES 1 BOTTOM RAIL
The bottom rail consists of a robust extruded aluminium section fitted with a rear cover plate designed to house a key operated two way locking.

SIZES
Widths - Any width of opening may be protected by fitting the Mirage removable or fixed standard 180, 135 or 90 degree mullion between individual shutters.

OPERATION
The roller drum is installed in a horizontal overhead position. Mirage Series 1 roller shutters are spring counter - balanced. Size limitations are as follows:
·         Manual operation - 3500mm wide / 3600mm high / overall maximum 8.1m2. Consult the manufacturer for full details.
·         Electric operation via a 240v internal drive motor - 5500mm wide / 4000mm high.

LOCKING
Mirage outside bottom rail locking with plated solid steel shoots to side guides is standard.
Locking alternatives are:
·         Single sided locking (outside or inside).
·         Two way locking (outside and inside - inside locking by key or rear snib).
·         Sliding pad-bolts to each end of bottom rail (padlocks supplied by others).
·         Lockwood style lock keyed to one side only. Designed to enable the ‘client’ to master- keyable to their requirements by others. Please note that this lock protrudes from the face of the bottom rail by up to 15mm.

ROLLER DRUM
The drum shall be manufactured from 200mm diameter mild steel spiroduct tube and attached to pressed steel end caps. Helical coil oil tempered springs shall be installed inside the drum. The drum shall revolve on nylon bearings with the internal mechanism being completely concealed. Spring tension shall be adjusted on site and locked into operating position by the installer.

BRACKETS
The brackets are fabricated from mild steel slotted angle as standard.

FINISH
The standard finish is matt natural anodised. Other anodised finishes and polyester powdercoat colours are available on request, and are subject to lead time constraints. Metallic and Pearl powdercoat finishes are not recommended for roller shutters.

OPTIONAL EXTRAS
Slotted Slats (Ventilation) - Any number of the aluminium slats can be punched with 127mm wide x 28mm high, providing an effective 33% ventilation per lineal metre of slat (refer to drawing). An option exists to add 1.5mm thick clear acrylic infill panels behind the slots to create viewing windows.

Wideview Vision Shutter - The slats can also be punched with 250mm wide x 28mm high slots, providing an effective 39% ventilation per lineal metre of slat (refer to drawing). An option exists to add 1.5mm thick clear acrylic infill panels behind the slots to create viewing windows.

TIPS FOR SPECIFIERS, BUILDERS & SHOPFITTERS
·         Preparation of openings to suit the Series 1 shutter is by others. Refer to the Technical Data Sheets to ensure correct opening preparation;
·         Provision of a 240v GPO power supply for the shutter motor is by others;
·         If required, pelmet enclosures, provision of jambs, flashings for jambs and master - keying of locks are by others.
